Our Mission

Our mission is to capture the rich history of Salvador Dalí in Monterey, while also striving to enrich our neighborhood by creating a beautiful space that everyone may enjoy while touring the famous Fisherman’s wharf. Together, we hope to spark positive thought and conversation through accessible art.

Dmitry & Rebecca Piterman

Dmitry Piterman has spent his entire life appreciating and collecting Salvador Dalí’s artwork. His private collection has been shown throughout the world, but has now found a permanent home in Monterey, California.

In 2016, the Piterman’s offered up their huge collection of Dalí works to the Monterey History & Art Association. The association, which ran a drab local history museum at Custom House Plaza, happily took on the collection.

The permanent exposition is managed by Dmitry’s wife, Rebecca Piterman. Her background in design and marketing has helped the space flourish, which now sees about 50,000 visitors a year.

Both Dmitry and Rebecca emigrated to the United States and found themselves drawn to Monterey, just as Salvador Dalí did–which is hardly a surprise, as these beautiful coastlines and bustling communities inspire us all!

We hope that you find the time to visit our exposition, and if there is anything we can do to make your experience better, please don’t hesitate to ask! We are a small, family-run business and we hope to make your time as memorable as possible.

The Dalí Team

Our Dalí team is constantly growing, so it’s impossible to keep up with all the updated headshots. We are so fortunate to have such an enthusiastic, dynamic and fun bunch of people to help us with our mission of spreading accessible art to our community.
